2012 Golf Day & Dinner
The 2nd Annual Build a School in Gambia Charity Golf Day has been run and won with 124 golfers participating challenging for both team and individual honours. The day was run again at Stoke by Nayland golf club and in very pleasant weather conditions which was a relief to the organisers considering the rather wet period leading up to the event. Weather played a big part in the very good scores returned and both team and individual competitions were closely fought and competitive.
The organising team were very grateful to the club who yet again provided invaluable assistance on the day ensuring that everything ran as smooth as was possible, all people involved organisers and competitors alike commented on what great condition the course was in and our thanks go to the Golf Club who made the event such a great success.
There were many opportunities on the day to contribute donations in the form of various mini competitions set up around the course, we thank those who helped sponsor those opportunities. In particular we would like to say thank you to Collier and Catchpole and BDR Thermia who were associate sponsors on the day and extend a special thank you to Alex Cox of Coversure who came in very late as main sponsor arranging the 18th hole in one sponsorship and also kindly donated valuable sporting items for the evening charity auction.
Over £13500 was raised on the day which will help with completion of the school construction at Sukuta in The Gambia and will also contribute toward running costs for the first year of opening still planned for 24 September this year.
A result like this could never have been achieved without the help of our sponsors so we thank you all very much for your invaluable support and hope that you will be able to participate in future events to help the project moving forward.
