The Year 2 children at Whitton C.P School have recently taken part in a 1km sponsored walk as part of their project work on Gambia and learning how different the country is to the UK.

They chose our charity to donate the £267 raised by their fundraising. The Trustees of the charity, Alan Seager, Martin Englefield and Helen Fenton visited the children before their walk to tell them about the life that the children lead in Gambia and how all the money raised for the charity goes to their education and the upkeep of the school.

The children presented the cheque to the charity Trustees and told them how hard it was to do the sponsored walk and how lucky they were to have their school and teachers.

The Year 2 teachers Emma Robbie and Nadine Lasance were very proud of the children and encouraged them throughout the walk. The project on Gambia has been very eye opening for the children and has made them aware of other children in the world and how different their lives can be to their own.

The Charity has achieved so much over the last few years with just over £100,000 raised. The Nursery School in Sukuta, Gambia opened its doors in September 2012 and in 2014 saw the first graduates leave to go onto the next stage of their education.
